The Chevy Suburban has long been a symbol of spaciousness, versatility, and rugged reliability. And while none of those features are set to change for the Suburban any time soon, Chevy has announced that both the Tahoe and Suburban will be fully redesigned for the 2025 model year, with changes expected to raise the bar even higher for the full-size SUV class. Here’s what we know so far.
The 2025 Suburban will offer new styling, a new interior, and a new diesel engine. While a diesel powertrain has been available in the Suburban since its last redesign, the new equipment is expected to deliver more power and torque. The V8 engines of the past will also carry over, giving you three options:
• The naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine
• The naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine
• The new-for-2025 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine
The optional diesel inline-six gets more power, making 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque, while the V-8 gasoline engines carry over unchanged. A 355-hp 5.3-liter V-8 is the default engine, with a 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8 available as an option. All three engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and either rear or all-wheel drive, ensuring smooth and efficient performance.
Chevy's biggest SUV gets a new 17.7-inch infotainment system standard, a new 11.0-inch digital gauge display, and new towing-assist features. The wider availability of GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving system brings added convenience and safety to the road. It will boast nine new wheel combinations, bringing the total number of wheel combinations to 20. The wide selection will include several massive 24-inch wheel diameters that will significantly enhance the all-new Suburban's exterior appeal.
Chassis improvements have been made to improve ride comfort and handling, ensuring every journey in the 2025 Suburban is smooth and enjoyable. While the EPA has not yet rated the 2025 Suburban's fuel economy, we expect little-to-no change from last year's model. The 2024 Suburban was most efficient when equipped with the diesel engine, achieving ratings of 21 mpg in the city and 27 on the highway.
The seating capacity isn’t expected to change – and for good reason. With three rows of seats that can fit up to eight riders (seven with optional second-row captain's chairs) and enough legroom for just about anyone, the 2025 Suburban offers comfort and versatility for passengers and cargo alike.
With plenty of exciting new enhancements, the all-new 2025 Chevy Suburban promises to deliver an unparalleled combination of space, style, performance, and technology. It won’t be long before the Suburban is ready to exceed your expectations at every turn. Keep an eye out for its arrival here at Glenn Polk Auto in Gainesville, TX, and prepare to experience the next level of full-size SUV excellence.
