By now, you’ve probably seen the commercials, or at least heard the buzz about the 2022 Ford F-150 Lighting. It’s the truck that takes utility to a whole new level – giving owners the ability to power their home during an outage. But the fact that the Ford Lightning can double as a generator is really just the beginning. There are several features of this all-electric pickup that will be sure to get you charged up.
The F-150 Lightning furiously strikes down the skeptics who believe that electricity will never match the performance of gas. In fact, the electric pickup delivers more torque than any F-150 – ever. It’s all thanks to the dynamic duo of electric motors that will wired in all four trims: Pro, XLT, Lariat and Platinum.
Driving the tandem of powertrains will be two battery options: Standard and Extended-Range. Both options will accomplish the F-150-leading torque of 775 lb-ft, though the latter will offer a bit more when it comes to overall performance. The Standard-Range battery options delivers an impressive 426 horsepower, whereas the Extended-Range turns it up to 11 with a whopping 563 horsepower.
Despite the power, the F-150 offers impressive practicality through both battery packs. The Standard-Range can travel as far as 230 miles on a single charge, and you’ll get an additional 70 miles out of the Extended-Range battery, which will achieve as many as 300 miles without having to plug in.
When the battery is exhausted, juicing up will be a breeze. Similar to EVs currently on the market, the F-150 Electric will offer one of two home charging kits ranging from 110 to 220 volts. Public charging stations are expected to recharge the battery to as much as 80 percent in as little as 45 minutes.
The release date of the 2022 Ford-150 Lightning is set for spring of 2022, and needless to say, we can’t wait. Here at Glenn Polk Auto, we’re ready to help get you connected to what will undoubtedly be the most “electric” pickup to hit the market, and that is sure to set the bar for the inevitable competitors.
We’re excited to show all of our Gainesville-area customers all that this one has to offer. And given the unexpected snowstorm that wiped power from more than 9 million Texas homes in February of 2022, we have a feeling that the backup generator features of this one could definitely come in handy.
Be sure to keep a close eye on our inventory over the next few months or give us a call today to learn more about how Glenn Polk can help you to be among the first to ride the Lightning.
