2024 Chevy Silverado EV WT & RST Release Date

This year, Ford is shocking the market with the 2022 F-150 Lightning – the first all-electric pickup. And while the Lightning was the first to strike, we’re equally as excited about the newly-unveiled Chevy Silverado EV, Chevy’s response to the Lightning. Though it’s not expected to hit the market until next year, there are several exciting features and benefits of the capable EV that Chevy has shared out.

Specs and Features of the All-Electric Silverado

Perhaps the most exciting announcement of the Silverado EV is its driving range. While at least two battery options are expected – similar to the F-150 Lighting – the electric Silverado will get the same extended-range battery as the GMC Hummer EV, giving it enough juice to go 400 miles on a full charge. And with the Ultium Platform, it will be able to get 100 miles of range with just 10 minutes of charging.

As expected, power will come standard, and the electric motor does nothing to hold the pickup back from achieving the performance that the Silverado has become known for. When operating at full power – what Chevy is calling “Wide Open Watts” – the Silverado will manage over 660 horsepower and over 780 lb-ft of torque. For comparison, the F-150 Lightning tops out at 563 horsepower.

Trim Levels of the Chevy Silverado EV

So far, two versions of the Silverado EV have been unveiled. The first is the EV WT, short for Work Truck, which is targeted toward business owners as an efficient fleet vehicle. The consumer-built model has been branded the RST First Edition, which will be the trim level capable of the numbers mentioned above. The RST is built around performance. In fact, it will go 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. Not too shabby at all for a full-size pickup that is run exclusively on electricity.

2024 Chevy Silverado EV Release Date

From what we understand so far, the Chevy Silverado will arrive as a 2024 model at some point next year. Chevy has gone as far to put dates on their website that show the Silverado EV WT will be hitting the market in Spring of 2023, with the fully-loaded RST First Edition following two seasons later in Fall of 2023. More trim levels of the electric pickup are expected to be unveiled closer to the release date.

Pricing will vary between the models as well. While the EV Work Truck starts just under $42,000, the RST First Edition comes in at low, six-figure numbers. We’re still a year out, but reservations for the Chevy Silverado EV have already begun, so if you’re looking to secure one in Texas, we’re here to help.
