All-New Raptor Bronco Delivers Peak Off-Road Performance

Right out of the gate, the Ford Bronco was built to tackle desert dunes and Baja rock crawling, but since the launch of the Raptor trim, we had a feeling that the off-road-ready Bronco would also be getting a Raptor variety. And thankfully, our dreams have come true, as the Ford Bronco Raptor has officially been unleashed for the 2022 model year with impressive specs and features across the board.

You’re familiar with “Build Ford Tough,” but Ford has coined a fitting new phrase for the Bronco: “Built Wild.” And wild it is. Under the hood of the Bronco Raptor is an exclusive twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine with Raptor-level tuning that helps the powertrain to deliver as much as 400 horsepower – more than enough for the road, the trails and the sand. It’s the most street-legal Bronco to hit the market.

The Bronco Raptor takes on an advanced 4x4 system with three modes that allow it to tweak performance based on the terrain that it’s facing. Further helping to smooth the ride is a High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) system with internal bypass, semi-active dampers. Adding to capability and style of the Raptor are massive 37-inch tires to help it tackle the unknown.

To help hold the larger, wider tires, the front and rear axles are extended to add a track width of 8.6 inches over the base Bronco. In addition, the larger driveshafts on the front and back axles help to ramp up the available torque from the EcoBoost engine. The Raptor also provides an edge over the standard Bronco as it relates to ground clearance. The Raptor tops out at 13.1 inches, 4.8 over the base Bronco.
