Right up front, you’ll notice that one of the most iconic features of the Wrangler – and Jeep models in general – has gotten an update. That, of course, is the seven-slot grille, which picks up a more modern look borrowed from the Jeep Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition. Tucked just behind the grille comes one of five versatile engine options that allow you to cater engine performance to your needs. A V6 comes as standard equipment, but you can also choose from a turbocharged four-cylinder, a hybrid-assist V6, a hefty V8 or a plug-in hybrid engine, a refined 375-horse marvel of engineering that powers the 4xe line.

The most notable new offering of the Wrangler is certainly the 4xe system, which, for the first time ever, introduces electricity to the mix, helping to deliver greater fuel efficiency, while also enhancing overall performance. When properly equipped, the system brings an estimated driving range of 370 miles, or to put it in mpg perspective, the equivalent of about 49 miles to the gallon. If you opt for a more traditional variation of the 4x4 system, you’ll have three to choose from, including Command-Trac, Selec-Trac  and Rock-Trac, all of which route torque to both sets of wheels, helping improve traction and off-road riding.

On the inside, the feature list extends even further, with both two- and four-door models available. As with past models, the doors can be removed and the roof peeled back to deliver an open-air cabin that lets the outside in. While its focus is on off-road performance, the Wrangler still delivers practicality with plenty of cabin space for as many as five, as well as room for cargo stashed behind the second row seat.
