While previously available in three trims, the GMC Canyon is all new for 2023, and has added a fourth AT4X off-road trim that significantly increases the Canyon’s ability to tackle whatever lies ahead with extra ground clearance and mud terrain tires that shine in any terrain. The AT4X is a slight step above the longer-standing AT4 trim that makes a return for 2023 along with the Denali and Elevation trims.

One of the biggest highlights of the Canyon is the standard 2.7-liter high-output turbo engine, which helps to equip the Canyon with some best-in-class features that set it apart from the other mid-size pickups in the market. That includes 430 lb-ft of torque from the gas-powered engine, which is paired with 310 horsepower. Together, it’s enough to give the Canyon a best-in-class towing capacity of 7,700 pounds, which is a rating typically found in a larger full-size pickup.

Inside, the fully redesigned cabin comes outfitted with a range of new technology, including underbody cameras and a head-up display. There are also more subtle features including a new digital gauge cluster, gear shifter and drive mode selection knob.
