A quick look at the highlights reveals a lot to love about the Cherokee – and much of it centers around its performance and capability. Under the hood, there are two engine options spread across the four available trims – X, Latitude Lux, Trailhawk and Limited. And while the powertrains vary in both size and cylinders, they offer similar numbers. It starts with the 2.0-liter, a four cylinder that is capable of hitting 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, with a towing capacity of 4,000 pounds. Add two additional cylinders for the 3.2-liter Pentastar V6, and you’ll get 271 horsepower, 239 lb-ft of torque and 4,500 pounds for towing, which is more than enough to haul a boat, trailer or whatever else you need.

From a fuel standpoint, the V6 gets 20 mpg in the city and 29 on the highway – impressive numbers considering the size and power. And while the turbocharged engine offers similar performance, the fewer cylinders allow it to go further, with ratings of 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
